Breaking Stereotypes in the Trucking Industry!  Meet Bri H, Accounts Receivable Supervisor at AFC

«I think the trucking industry is a good fit for my analytical skills and ability to manage numbers»

As an Accounts Receivable Supervisor at AFC Bri, one must blend three key qualities: analytical thinking, a knack for quickly and accurately working with numbers, and the ability to juggle multiple problems at once—all while staying calm and collected. There’s a common stereotype that these traits are predominantly male, suggesting that women are more emotional and less suited for the fast-paced trucking industry. However, Bri challenges this notion. She firmly believes that anyone can thrive in trucking, regardless of gender, as long as they possess the right skills and determination.

If you enjoy multitasking, adapting to ever-changing situations, seeking growth opportunities, and working with new technologies and diverse teams, trucking is a fantastic field to consider. Bri is a living testament to this belief, proving that success knows no gender.

How did you decide to become part of the AFC Transport INC company?

I was impressed by the company’s commitment to innovation and customer service.

Within my first week of being welcomed into AFC, I found that my coworkers, as well as upper management, were inclined to help me understand what AFC stands for and what true customer service in trucking means as a whole for AFC. Prior to finding AFC in Tampa, FL, I was searching for a new workplace where I could find a true position and be a valued member of a team.

How did you realize that you wanted to stay in the company for a long

period of time?

In my experience, I have found that AFC provides opportunities for growth and

development. I value the job stability and the relationships I’ve built (and continue to

build) here.

How do you handle multitasking at AFC?

Over the past 17 years in trucking operations, I have found that keeping calm while under pressure is the key to getting through the day. One of my key strengths is adapting to continuously changing priorities. Keeping a checklist of tasks to be completed daily, weekly, monthly, etc., helps me stay organized and on track for the daily grind while working.

Does the company allow you to maintain a healthy work-life balance?

The owners, as well as all of our management team, understand that life happens. There is no pressure to constantly be online or to work for long periods. Time off is understood and respected. While transportation never stops, the company allows the team to have their time away without any pressure as well.
